Dream Deferred
Dream Deferred
Katrina Griffis
$180.00

Dimensions: 10 x 8 x 0.5
Media: Mixed media ( acrylic, paint markers)
Artist Statement : For this piece, I created a striking figure against a textured purple backdrop, adorned with geometric patterns. I went with a dark complexion which I knew would contrast with the vibrant purple and gold accents, creating a visually compelling image. The figure's expression, accentuated by the prominent eyes, hint at a complex inner world, inviting the viewer to contemplate their story. The use of mixed media, including what appears to be decorative stones on the figure's clothing, adds a tactile dimension to the piece, enhancing its overall impact. The artwork explores themes of identity, beauty, and introspection, rendered with a bold and contemporary aesthetic.

Bald Knob Serenity
Susan Kurtz
$1,200.00

Dimensions: 16 x 20 x 1
Media: Acrylic on canvas
Artist Statement : This painting reflects a place I know intimately. For over 30 years, I lived and worked in Blacksburg, Virginia, where the mountains, trails, and natural beauty of the Blue Ridge were woven into my everyday life. The view from Bald Knob at Mountain Lake—where this scene is set—was a favorite hike, a place where I often paused to breathe, reflect, and simply be. From this high ridge, the world feels vast and full of possibility. The layered blues of distant mountains, the winding New River below, and the open sky above remind me of the quiet power of nature to ground us and lift us at the same time. This piece is not just a landscape—it’s a memory, a meditation, and a love letter to a region that shaped my sense of wonder and belonging.

The pieces submitted were inspirited by a death in the pediatric oncology unit, an in utero baptism for a baby who died at birth, and the terminal illness of the love of miller's life. sally has come to believe that there's an inexorable connection between suffering love and beauty which is expressed in all of her art. shape of the story depicts the ways grief, hope, joy and deep disappointment often abide in tension within a personal story.
PILLAR OF FIRE
PILLAR OF FIRE
Raymond Moldenhauer
$2,900.00

Dimensions: 48 x 48 x 1.5
Media: Acrylic painting on wrapped canvas
Artist Statement : PILLAR OF FIRE is based on Exodus 13: 21 "And the LORD went before them by night in a pillar of fire to give them light." The painting bursts forth with a powerful energy that commands attention and inspires reflection. This 48" x 48" acrylic painting captures a vivid interplay of deep blues and fiery orange reds, blending and contrasting in a dance of light and shadow. The textured layers and sweeping, swirling wide flat strokes evoke a sense of movement that feels both chaotic and purposeful, as if embodying the very essence of a guiding flame in the dark. The composition moves from tranquil, shadowy hues on the left to vibrant, passionate tones on the right, symbolizing a journey from stillness into radiant illumination. This piece speaks to the enduring presence of hope and guidance, echoing the profound imagery of a pillar of fire leading the way through uncertainty.

Leslie Nolan
$700.00

Dimensions: 10 x 10 x 3
Media: acrylic on stretched canvas
Artist Statement : I make paintings on canvas that compel us to reconsider the human form as it relates to conditions of fragility and stress. Because I spent a previous career keeping secrets here and abroad in my national security work and travel for the US Government, my current interest is to express in painting universal feelings which remain largely hidden. Many of us cloak ourselves behind a veneer of success despite situations in our lives which wreak havoc with our emotions. In my artworks I peek into the inner world of individuals as personal, economic, political and social upheavals swirl about them. Some people respond with fortitude and resilience; others with worry and confusion. No one is untouched. As a painter I am free to highlight emotions experienced in other cultures and sometimes in challenging conditions. I try to entice viewers to make a personal interpretation based on their own experience by blurring the real with the imagined, revealing vulnerability or strength

Center Pivot Irrigation Patterns,Texas Panhandle
Emil Petruncio
$180.00

Dimensions: 12 x 12 x 1.5
Media: Filtered digital photo on canvas.
Artist Statement : I took this photo while flying above the Texas Panhandle and enhanced the image to minimize haze. The circles of cropland are created by center pivot irrigation systems, which pump water from aquifers and spray it in circular patterns. These systems are efficient, and they helped transform the High Plains region from a dustbowl to a highly productive center of agriculture and livestock in the second half of the twentieth century. The unchecked use of these systems has led to the decline of the the major source of water in this region - the Ogallala aquifer - and has eliminated the potential for future growth in the area.
You Are Not Alone
You Are Not Alone
Linda Popp
$210.00

Dimensions: 17 x 7 x 2.5
Media: Found Objects
Artist Statement : I am a narrative found object assemblage sculptor. I use artifacts and symbolic objects to convey stories about relationships with family, place, love, faith, nature, self, time, and other themes. This work is from my Relationship with Love Series. It was inspired by recent stories of teen suicides. When family or friends were interviewed, they often said they had no clue that the person was suffering. My hope is to remind each of us that we are not alone. We need to connect and communicate with each other. We need to create supportive communities for each of us. That connection/communication could save a life.
