I make paintings on canvas that compel us to reconsider the human form as it relates to conditions of fragility and stress.

Because I spent a previous career keeping secrets here and abroad in my national security work and travel for the US Government, my current interest is to express in painting universal feelings which remain largely hidden. Many of us cloak ourselves behind a veneer of success despite situations in our lives which wreak havoc with our emotions. In my artworks I peek into the inner world of individuals as personal, economic, political and social upheavals swirl about them. Some people respond with fortitude and resilience; others with worry and confusion. No one is untouched.

As a painter I am free to highlight emotions experienced in other cultures and sometimes in challenging conditions. I try to entice viewers to make a personal interpretation based on their own experience by blurring the real with the imagined, revealing vulnerability or strength
