Artist Statement
Since transitioning into artistic photography from news and editorial a year or two ago, bstracts made in the nation's National Parks have been a main focus. On a recent field course in Colorado's Great Sand Dunes National Park, I did indeed find the light and features lent themselves to abstract works. But not in this case. The reddish natural light of the setting sun on the dunes, some of which rise more than 700 feet high, and particularly the mountains- Sangre de Christos in Spanish, Blood of Christ in English - alone made for many spectacular landscapes, including this one.
