Photography

I photographed this image in Idaho on the Snake River. As I was processing the image, the lyrics from "America the Beautiful" and the line " for purple mountain majesties" came to mind. I decided to manipulate the color of the mountains to make them purple. I think the mountains do look majestic in purple and I love this image. I've been a photographer for over 38 years and I have a pretty traditional style. Over the years, I have become more progressive in my style and I now often think of what I do as "making pictures" instead of just "taking pictures." This new thinking allows me to manipulate my images if it produces a more dramatic image than what I saw or what came out of the camera.
